A series of seven layered pigment prints based on photographs taken during my first visit to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. Designed by MVRDV, Depot—the first museum to open its entire collection to the public—houses over 150,000 artefacts. My visit felt like a reunion with art works that deeply influenced my early artistic development but had not been on show for a while.

As a young artist, I left art college after a few months, finding my education instead in Boijmans’ eclectic collections. Many of the works I encountered there shaped my art practice and later appeared in my 1995 solo exhibition Narcissus and the Pool of Corruption. This installation was informed by my ongoing interest in museum culture and artist-led curatorial practice which also shaped my PhD project The Museum Within Us.
