They left on a sunny day

They Left on a sunny day (09:06) is a video work presented as a still image projection that depicts an abandoned house reflecting on its own demise after the departure of its former inhabitants.
Though deserted, the empty house – its rooms still holding decaying furniture and broken objects – radiates a haunting sense of presence. This atmospheric and poignant work invites the viewer to contemplate loss and tragedy, and to imagine the unknown memories and histories that this sad forsaken house may embody. It also reminds us of the complexities inherent in the act of ‘taking’ images.
Ten black and white Polaroids slowly emerge from of cobalt blue, each subtitled with the ruin’s lament.
